Traditional spice cakes use whole lot of butter and sugar. This version is made with unsweetened applesauce and shredded apples to keep it moist, yet flavorful. You can also use carrots or zucchini instead of apples!

2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1.5 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
1 cup coconut oil
1.5 cup coconut sugar
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tbsp molasses
4 eggs, room temp
1 cup shredded apple (or carrot/zucchini!)
1/2 cup butter, softened (dairy free if needed)
8 oz cream cheese, slightly softened (dairy free if needed)
3 cups sifted powdered sugar
